Ik hou van: textuur * structuur * katten * vorm * over the top * post-post-minimal * pannenkoeken * esthetiek * deze ook weer stuk maken * processen * metal

In his music, Janco Verduin (1972) draws from concepts from a vast arrange of sources: software engineering, neurosciences and psychology, nature, physics and biology, visual arts and of course, all music known to us. With everchanging sound constellations he explores the human perception of sound, structures and meaning we give to it.

After his studies in Industrial Product Design, Music Technology and a short career as a 3D software engineer, Verduin studied at the Royal Conservatory The Hague with Louis Andriessen, Martijn Padding, Gillius van Bergeijk, and Richard Ayres. After getting his Master in 2009, he has been working as a freelance composer. He also likes to paint abstracts and create computer animations as visual 'soundtracks' for some of his music.

He has worked with and written music for Ensemble Modelo62, Nieuw Amsterdams Peil, orkest de ereprijs, Calefax Reed Quintet, the David Kweksilber Big Band, SPECTRA ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble, ASKO ensemble, Cantus Ansambl and the Dutch Student Orchestra amongst others.

Verduin's music is performed regularly in the Netherlands and abroad, at concerts and festivals like the Gaudeamus International Muziekweek , Iordens viooldagen and November Music and recently, the NTR Zaterdagmatinee.
Currently he is working on a new piece for harpsichord and laptop.
