Sara Zamboni

Sara Zamboni (1990) lives in The Hague. Modal, tonal and polytonal elements blend and connect to the history and repertoire of instrumental and vocal practices.

Sara Zamboni (Italy - 1990) is an academically trained composer, classical pianist and creative coach based in The Netherlands. Her musical interests and influences are multiple and diverse. Her composition projects encompass instrumental works, electronic music and combinations for various destinations, privileging music for live performances in theatres and concert halls. She is mostly interested in chamber music projects, contemporary music theatre, music for dance choreography & movement research. Her compositions have been performed in The Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Republic of North Macedonia, Czech Republic, Italy and China. She has been nominated as one of the six composers for the Dutch submission for the ISCM World New Music Days 2021 in Shanghai and Nanning (China) organised by the International Society of Contemporary Music (ISCM).

Her pieces Trio for violin, cello and piano (2020) and Lumen de Lumine (2018) have been broadcasted in the radio programme "Vrije Geluiden" curated by Aad van Nieuwkerk on NPO Radio 4, the Dutch public radio for Classical music. The video recording of her Trio has been realised in co-production with Vrije Geluiden and New Music NOW.

In 2020 she founded Cytokine Records: an independent record label for experimental electronic music. Her online releases are made with love for whoever has time, curiosity and desire to listen to them.

Besides her various activities as a creator, she works at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague as a pianist for Modern dance classes, creative dance and improvisation. She also leads workshops in the analogue studio of electronic music of the Composition Department during the First Year Festival, the Open Days and the new Orientation Course: Composition, Sonology, ArtScience.
