Idema/Serierse Quartet explores the fusion of guitar and vocals, emphasizing freedom, space, and contrasts between city life and nature.

In this quartet, guitarist Gijs Idema and vocalist Anna Serierse explore new ways to blend guitar and voice. From a sonic perspective, they aim to create a unique fusion between the two instruments, supported by the steady foundation provided by Cas Jiskoot on double bass and Tim Hennekes on drums. The quartet is described as a cohesive unit, painting broad strokes with a strong sense of freedom, melody, rhythm, and form.

The members of the Idema/Serierse Quartet first met in 2016 while studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Inspired by the interplay between voice and guitar, they immediately felt a strong musical connection that continues to evolve. One of the key themes the quartet explores is the search for space and freedom within structured compositions. As Idema explains, “In our music, we like to emphasize the contrast between the chaotic city life and the peacefulness of nature, in every aspect.”
