Seung-Won Oh on her composition
“In my 45-minute long new work, I aim to create a personal reflection and response to this monumental symphonic work by adapting my own musical language in a tint of Bruckner’s musical spirit. The intricate relationship of musical themes used throughout the Fourth Symphony is one of the key components in achieving the cohesion of this gigantic work. These close thematic relationships – based on the first version (1874) – are what I want to approach as the driving force behind my compositional creation.”
