Boris Bezemer composed two new pieces for Ensemble Resilience, including the world premiere of Mountain. This piece is based on intertwining streams of sound: rhythmic patterns, melodic patterns, digitally processed sounds, and pedal tones. Beneath this tapestry, a rapid, continuous pulse ticks away, connecting the various threads through metric modulations. The listener perceives the tempo of the music as either slower or faster, depending on how the pulse is grouped into larger or smaller units.
