Jasna Veličković
Adapting
- Concert
In her performance, Jasna Veličković introduces charging adapters, amplified to produce a soft hum, exploring the sounds of forgotten clutter and electronic gadgets. With Ensemble Resilience, the performance raises questions about our connection to technology, humanity, and automation.
Jasna Veličković transforms the ensemble setting by introducing an unexpected new instrument: charging adapters. When connected and amplified with a pair of magnetic plays, they emit a soft hum. The music highlights the sounds of forgotten clutter and electronic gadgetry, urging us to reflect on deeper questions: Are we paying enough attention to what’s happening with our physical world, our humanity, as our lives become simpler and more automated? Are we connecting, or disconnecting? Does our technology adapt to us, or do we adapt to our technology?
The musicians of Ensemble Resilience:
Natalie Kulina – violin
Marco Danesi – clarinet/bass clarinet
Tomek Szczepaniak – percussions
Paolo Gorini – keyboards
The videographer was Eric de Clerq.
