Alba Careta, a trumpet player and jazz singer from Avinyó, Catalonia, was born in 1995. She studied at ESMUC in Barcelona and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, before completing a Master’s in Jazz Trumpet at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam. With her band, made up of top musicians from the current jazz scene, she has released three albums, all of which have received critical acclaim. At InJazz 2023, she presented her third album, Teia, released in 2023. Teia means "resinous or splintery wood" in Catalan, referring to a type of wood that burns easily. The album features six original compositions and two well-known versions of the Catalan New Song (La Nova Cançó), with explosive, energetic, and organic jazz that sets her apart. Alba Careta's compositions are deeply inspired by her personal experiences, and Teia further solidifies her position in both the Catalan and European jazz scenes.
