To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Kamerkoor JIP invited five composers to create new works exploring perspective, connection, and belonging in today’s turbulent world. Featuring Iranian and Spanish vocals, trumpet, electronics, piano, and percussion, the project includes works by Oene van Geel, Gerard Beljon, Maripepa Contreras, Setareh Nafisi, and Antonio Moreno Glazkov, addressing themes of Iranian uprisings, loneliness, and individual connection.

A ten-year anniversary deserves a celebration! To mark this milestone, Kamerkoor JIP invited five composers to write a piece inspired by the choir's search for perspective, connection, and a sense of home in the turbulent world we live in. These new works reflect the singers' personal journeys, exploring what moves them, the individual strengths we possess as humans, and where we find common ground. This resulted in concerts featuring five soloists—Iranian and Spanish vocalists, trumpet, electronics, piano, and percussion—under the title Maar de zon is nog op (But the Sun is Still Up).

Oene van Geel, a multi-instrumentalist and composer, wrote a piece for choir, piano, trumpet, and vocal soloists, blending individual perspectives with Iranian influences into a composition about awe and love for the world and one another. Gerard Beljon, a choir composer, conducted a unique artistic investigation by asking each choir member to sing their favorite melodies, which were then fused into a moving collective piece. Additionally, three rising talents—Maripepa Contreras, Setareh Nafisi, and Antonio Moreno Glazkov—each composed a choral work, bringing different perspectives on today’s world. Central themes include the uprisings in Iran, loneliness, individual connection, and belonging.
