Kamerkoor JIP, conducted by Jonathan Ploeg, presents Requiem de la Luz (part 1/4): El único verso - Universo, composed by Jonathan Ploeg (1987) with a libretto by Nícolas Barría González (1986). Requiem de la Luz is a four-part work that explores the death of the sun and the cycle of life. The themes include the changing seasons, the existence of the universe, the birth of life on Earth, the evolution of our senses, and the eventual demise of the sun. El único verso focuses on the vastness of the universe and the singularity of existence, evoking a sense of cosmic wonder and reflection. The piece encourages listeners to consider the fragility of life and its profound connection to our emotions and the natural world. This work is a collaboration between Nícolas Barría González, Jonathan Ploeg, Bjarni Gudmundsson (Iceland), Diederik ten Böhmer (Netherlands), guitarists Alvaro Rovira Ruiz (Argentina) and Meike Aukes (Netherlands), and conductors Jonathan and Imre Ploeg.
