With their performance at inJazz 2019 and the release of their debut album Nebula that same year, the Dutch-German Doppler Trio received widespread acclaim. Full of optimism, they planned to record their second album in early 2020, but then the pandemic struck. When the recording sessions finally took place, the trio's frustration from being unable to play together for so long brought an unexpected burst of energy into the studio. Archean was released in 2021 by the German label BERTHOLD Records. Through crowdfunding, the Doppler Trio also managed to set up groundbreaking interactive livestreams via Twitch, incorporating visuals into their live presentations—all aligned with the scientific themes that inspire their music.
