Ron van Effrink (1959) was born in Amersfoort and lives in Veenendaal. He started to compose music in middle age. He is an autodidact, a few years ago he got lessons in counterpoint. The harmonic function is, like Debussy, not always functional.

In his newest music, in some parts of Requiem, he is trying to combine the form of the Baroque and the Renaissance. This work is still in progress.

Also in his second string quartet, he uses the forms and techniques from the Baroque era.
