Vite, plus vite!!

A rich mosaic of Dutch composition unfolds in this Ruysdael Quartet project, where 25 composers craft miniature works inspired by themes from Ruysdael to the cosmos, blending minimalism, jazz, microtonality, and world music into a striking musical palette.

The Ruysdael Quartet commissioned 25 composers to create new works, resulting in a vibrant showcase of Dutch composition in the early 21st century. Given complete artistic freedom, the composers explored diverse styles and themes. Interestingly, many found inspiration in the painter Ruysdael, while others delved into space and the stars. This collection features a kaleidoscope of musical influences, from lyrical passages and minimal music to 17th-century echoes, microtonality, jazz, and world music—all condensed into a series of brief yet expressive pieces.
