Three winners of Keep an Eye The Records 2025 presented their new albums at TivoliVredenburg. Bassist River Adomeit presented his group Flatland Prayer’s album Fanatic (self-released).
A lot was brewing in America, the homeland of bassist River Adomeit. With his band Flatland Prayer, he released a second album: Fanatic, a diptych. The first part zoomed in on the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The second part expressed disappointment with the left-wing response to Trump’s reelection. You could hear it immediately: Adomeit is a born storyteller. He grew up surrounded by the typical American sounds of jazz, folk, and bluegrass—musical roots that he brought to life in a surprisingly contemporary way. He called it “contemporary songwriting.”
The trio complemented each other effortlessly. Antonio’s trumpet did more than just carry the melody; it also drove the rhythm and groove. River composed, Līva interpreted. Together, they forged a distinctive sound that seamlessly balanced tradition with fresh, modern jazz adventures.
Līva Dumpe (vocals), Antonio Moreno Glazkov (trumpet), River Adomeit (double bass)
