Artvark Saxophone Quartet

"At first I saw four saxophones. Then I heard nothing but music."

Artvark is an idiosyncratic saxophone quartet that has gained strong recognition in the Netherlands and abroad in recent years. Moving fluently between jazz, classical, improvised and contemporary music, the quartet performs on a wide range of stages, from jazz venues and festivals to churches, national television and leading (semi-)classical festivals. With an entirely original repertoire and a distinctive artistic identity, Artvark stands out within the international music scene and is increasingly reaching beyond traditional jazz circuits to international crossover and (semi-)classical venues and festivals.

Artvark presents Four Fathers in the spring of 2026, their 12th album and the second chapter of their trilogy and the follow-up to their successful album Mother of Thousand. With this release, the quartet delves deeply into the many facets of fatherhood—a theme as complex, raw and tender as the sound of their saxophones.

The album unfolds as a vivid dialogue between four masterful musicians: Rolf Delfos and Bart Wirtz (alto saxophones), Mete Erker (tenor saxophone) and Peter Broekhuizen (baritone saxophone). Four voices, four perspectives, united in a timeless sonic world that moves effortlessly beyond genre boundaries. The music emerges organically, where structure and improvisation meet, and every note breathes the authenticity of a personal story.
