David Dramm
Déjà vu
In Déjà vu, David Dramm creates a dynamic exploration of memory and time, blending avant-garde techniques with contemporary classical elements. His work adds to the Ruysdael Quartet’s commission series, incorporating complex rhythms and unique tonalities.
The Ruysdael Quartet invited 25 composers to contribute to a diverse project that showcases the wide range of contemporary Dutch composition at the start of the 21st century. The composers were given complete freedom in their approach, allowing them to explore a variety of styles and themes. Many composers gravitated toward Ruysdael as their central theme, while others focused on topics like space, stars, and time. This eclectic mix includes influences from minimalism, 17th-century music, jazz, world music, microtonality, and more, resulting in a collection of works that reflect a broad spectrum of modern music.
