Sarah Jeffery is one of the world's foremost promoters of the recorder and a passionate advocate for contemporary music. She has commissioned and premiered dozens of contemporary works and regularly performs on stages and festivals worldwide. Beyond the stage, she is recognized as an expert on the instrument, appearing on BBC and frequently heard on radio and television. For her efforts, she was praised by the Dutch newspaper NRC for her "distinctive ability to stand out from the established repertoire" and her "fresh, surprising, and explosive" performances, and by BBC Radio 3 for "the epitome of sonic and soundtrack cool, on the edge of compositional innovation and performance possibilities."

The series is a collaboration between New Music NOW, Vrije Geluiden, and Splendor, supported by the Investments Music Fund, an initiative of Buma/Stemra and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW); and NPO Klassiek.
