In The Arrival of Mr. Z, the talented composer Meriç Artaç brings five distinct musical characters to life in an imaginative new opera. Created during her artist-in-residence at Festival Dag in de Branding, these characters are inspired by people Artaç encountered on the streets, each one vividly brought to life through her music. The opera explores the tension between individual freedom and the need for external guidance, questioning the role of belief systems, ideals, and power in our society. The work reflects on change, hope, and the search for connection.
