Wilko Brouwers's Stabat Mater is a deeply emotional composition based on two poems by Esther Jansma and selected text fragments from the traditional Stabat Mater. The piece is performed by Charlotte Houberg (soprano) and Heleen Vegter (piano), whose expressive performance brings the work’s poignant themes to life. The composition delicately blends the lyrical beauty of Jansma’s poetry with the powerful imagery of the Stabat Mater text. The recording took place on May 9, 2022, at Studio van Schuppen in Veenendaal, capturing the intimate atmosphere of the performance.
