Aurora goes to Holland
In Aurora goes to Holland, the cello in the film, tired of the busy world around it, takes a journey into the unknown, reflecting the journey described in the music by Annie Tångberg. Performed by the West Side Trio, the visuals, inspired by postcards of cellos flying over Norwegian landscapes, were created by Udo Prinsen using images by photographer Eddo Hartmann.
Aurora goes to Holland is a visual exploration inspired by the track from Annie Tångberg’s album Apocalyptic Sunrise. The piece is performed by the West Side Trio, featuring Annie Tångberg (cello, fx & voice), Isabella Petersen (viola, fx & voice), and Vera van der Bie (violin, fx & voice). The film, directed by Udo Prinsen, reflects on the idea of a cello, weary of the buzzing of busy people around it, deciding to leave. The journey takes the instrument upwards and outwards, into the unknown, akin to the track’s title, representing Aurora’s journey to the Netherlands. The visual elements are drawn from postcards showing cellos soaring above Norwegian landscapes, captured by Dutch photographer Eddo Hartmann.
