Wilko Brouwers

Jan Palachs Praag

A reflective fusion of Wilko Brouwers' music and Miroslav Holub's text, Jan Palachs Praag combines spoken word and rich soundscapes, recorded across Eindhoven and Amsterdam for a powerful, immersive experience.

Jan Palachs Praag by Wilko Brouwers is an evocative composition set to a powerful text by Miroslav Holub, translated by Wim Hazeu. This musical pamphlet draws from the emotional weight of Holub’s words, blending them seamlessly with Brouwers’ intricate compositions. The instruments were recorded and mixed in the intimate setting of the Kleine Zaal at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven by Mathea, while the spoken voice was recorded and mixed by Bart de Groot in Amsterdam. This collaborative effort results in a reflective and stirring work that captures the gravity of the subject matter and invites deep contemplation.
