Disturbing Light
Disturbing Light blends sound and image in a unique, immersive experience, where shadows come to life through music and visuals. With violin, piano, and electronic elements, the work invites the audience into a reflective journey, guided by the haunting visuals of Marij Janssen and the delicate, shifting soundscapes by Rieteke Hölscher.
Disturbing Light is an evocative experience that combines sound and image in a way that transports the audience to another realm. Composer Rieteke Hölscher and graphic designer Marij Janssen have co-created this immersive work, where the interplay between shadowy figures and delicate, almost organic-sounding electronic soundscapes creates an atmosphere of dreamlike mystery. The piece features Ensemble Cross Meeting, with Kirsti Apajalahti on violin and Hölscher herself on piano, weaving together a soundscape that pulses and shifts with the visual elements created by Janssen's installation and video work. Together, they explore the concept of time as an elusive force, bending and warping through both sight and sound in a beautifully layered, multidisciplinary performance.
