Calliope Tsoupaki's new composition, Thin Air, was premiered by guitarist Wiek Hijmans at the Holland Festival on June 20th. Commissioned by Festivals for Compassion, Thin Air has been performed at various festivals around the world, including in prominent venues like Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. Written as a tribute to the compassion shown during the corona crisis, Tsoupaki’s piece can be played on a wide range of instruments, allowing every musician to express their own inner voice of compassion. In recognition of its impact, Tsoupaki received the Matthijs Vermeulen Composition Prize in July 2021.
