Amarante Nat
She has a great fascination for the human voice and body.
Amarante Nat (Amsterdam, 1995) studies composition with Yannis Kyriakides and Martijn Padding; and classical voice with Gerda Van Zelm at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Before that, she was studying composition with Willem Jeths and Wim Henderickx at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
In her work she feels attracted on one side to traditional western musical forms such as opera, ballet, chamber music and symphonic works. And at the same time she is motivated to research new forms and musical ideas such as installations and music theatre.
She has a great fascination for the human voice and body. Besides composing alone behind the piano, she feels the need to be in touch with other creative minds to exchange, stimulate, cultivate and inspire each other. Looking for new working processes and exploring how different artforms can merge and interact through interdisciplinary collaborations are therefore a crucial focus in her work. To her other artistic activities belong writing poetry, photography, ballet and contemporary dance.
Her work has been performed in Muziekgebouw, Tivoli Vredenburg, Orgelpark, Eye Film Institute, DeSingel Antwerp, Musis Sacrum, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, Stopera and Korzo.
