Relaxin' & Steamin'
- Solo/Duo
Wytske Holtrop and Aljosja Buijs perform Relaxin’ and Steamin’ by Frans Vermeerssen, inspired by Miles Davis.
In a special session recorded at Het Concertgemaal in Amsterdam-Noord, Wytske Holtrop performs Relaxin', a composition for cello and soundtrack by Frans Vermeerssen. This piece, along with Steamin’ (a piano and soundtrack composition by Frans Vermeerssen), is inspired by albums recorded by American trumpeter Miles Davis with his quintet in 1956.
Frans Vermeerssen, an accomplished saxophonist, bandleader, composer, arranger, and conductor since 1978, has earned his reputation in the world of jazz and improvised music. Recently, he has focused more on composition. In this session, both pieces are performed alongside altered samples from Davis’ iconic albums.
